Wine Racks and Wooden Storage Cases Contractor Built Using Lacquer Finished Redwood
The kind of material used in the construction of a wooden storage room determines not only the durability of the structure but also its aesthetic value.

The client in the Phoenix home storage room construction project, together with the contractor team from Coastal Custom Wine Cellars, decided to use Redwood for the racks and shelves. Redwood is one of the best wood species used in building wine cellars. The material has natural oils in it, which helps protect the wood from moisture and mildew.
Many residential wine room owners choose Redwood also because of its natural beauty. The wood has soft earth tone color distinctions that develop exquisitely over time.
There are those who want to keep their Redwood unfinished or unstained, which is perfectly fine because this type of wood is lovely even without any stain or finish. But the client in the Phoenix contractor construction project wanted his racks and shelves to have a lacquer finish. It is important to consult a professional regarding the application of stains and finishes on any wooden material.
There are different kinds of finishes on the market (e.g. shellac, varnish, polyurethane, and lacquer), but a number of them are not applicable to certain wood types.
As per the request of the client, the team of experts from Coastal applied a lacquer finish on the residential wine cellar’s wooden racks and shelves.
Lacquer is a top choice for Redwood, not only because it is durable, but also because it gives the material an elegant gloss. After the application of lacquer, the home wine room’s colors became bolder and more enhanced. The client was extremely pleased with the result.

Custom-Built Wooden Case Shelves and Single Bottle Storage Racks
The Phoenix custom wine cellar construction project was a success mainly because the client and the professional wine cellar contractor openly contributed ideas for the design of the wine room. It was the client who suggested the installation of the wood case shelves on commercial rollers so that the storage boxes could be easily accessed. The client does not need to bend down to take a bottle from the shelves. Instead, he conveniently pulls the wine case out by sliding them across the rollers.
Wooden bottle cases on the market come in various sizes. Some shelves can accommodate from three to twelve wines, depending on the design.
In this Phoenix home cellar, the wood cases were custom-built, so that the openings in each box were large enough to keep wines of various sizes, including Turley Zinfandels, Oregon Pinots, Shiraz, and even standard champagne bottles.
A display row was built on one of the shelves, and it was accented with LED lighting. The client loved the display row not only because it made the cellar look more elegant, but also because he can use it as a bottle management tool.
Stocks can easily be kept organized by storing similar wines above and below the display row.
Initially, the wine room had a mini cellar, but the client gave it away.
The mini cellar was supposed to be a storage space for bottles that needed to be kept at a cooler temperature, like whites and champagne. Since it no longer is there, the room is left with an empty space. The team of builders from Coastal came back to build another set of single bottle storage racks, in order to fill the vacant area where the mini cellar used to stand.

Ductless Split Type Wine Cellar Cooling Unit from Contractors Arctic Metalworks Inc.
All wine rooms need to be installed with a dependable cooling unit. Without an efficient HVAC system, storage space cannot provide the required temperature and humidity for keeping wines safe from damage.
Wine cellars differ in storage needs, and thus, they also vary in the cooling units that they require. The most suitable refrigeration system for a cellar depends on many factors, such as the number of bottles stocked, the size of the storage room, and the climate of the area.
To determine the most appropriate HVAC equipment for a wine cellar, a cooling expert must be consulted. For the Phoenix residential wine room, a team of professional HVAC technicians from Arctic Metalworks Inc. installed a ductless split-type refrigeration unit.
The cooling contractor experts mounted the evaporator of the cooling equipment on the wine cellar wall, and they placed the condenser outside of the house.
The setup was advantageous to the client because no hot air is exhausted inside his home. Also, since the condensing unit was located outdoors, the fan coil operated quietly in the cellar.
The evaporating unit looked very mechanical in nature and was quite an eyesore. To hide from sight, the builders made a box for the equipment, and they covered it with a wooden louvered grill.
